Fair Food Network's Double Up Food Bucks program doubles the value of SNAP benefits spent at participating farmers markets, helping people bring home more healthy fruits and vegetables while supporting local farmers. The program provides a one-to-one match in free Double Up Food Bucks for customers shopping with their SNAP benefits (maximum $20 per day).
Double Up Food Bucks can only be redeemed for fruits and vegetables grown within 400 miles of where the market is located. Visit the Information Booth to participate.
Zucchini racers may be created at home. Or bring a zucchini from home or purchase a market zucchini and use the wheels, dowels, and decorative items at our “make-it station” from 8-10:30 a.m. Participants can register their zucchini for the race at the BHFM Information Booth, September 21, until 10:30 a.m. One entry per person. Participation is free. Wheel axles must pass through the zucchini. Yellow squash and cucumbers are also permitted. Each entry must be gravity-powered only – no motors, rubber bands, or additional assistance. Participants must create their own entries and bring them to the judging table. The race car may be decorated with any variety of craft or vegetable materials. The first through third place winners of the final race, Best Decorated, and Most Original all receive a ribbon and $10 Market Gift Card. Market Gift Cards are redeemable at any Black Hills Farmers Market vendor. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
